Junie B., First Grader: Shipwrecked is the twenty-third book in the Junie B. Jones series.

Summary[]

Junie B. plays a ship in a school play about Christopher Columbus, but has to deal with the other students' illnesses and May hogging the stage.

Plot[]

A stomach virus is spreading around the school and Roger has caught it and threw up in class. As Roger is sent to the nurses office, Gus Vallony comes in and cleans it up. Meanwhile, Sheldon who is a germaphobe is freaking out and states that whenever someone throws up, the germs are EVERYWHERE causing Junie B and everyone else in Room One to plug their nose.

At lunch, it was hard to eat as of everyone still were plugging their noses but Mr. Scary orders everyone to release their nostrils and eat. After lunch, the nurse comes in to class and explains to the class what you can and can't do to keep from getting sick (washing hands, not touching your face, etc).

Mr. Scary announces that their class is doing a play of Christopher Columbus in honor of Columbus day. So he tells the class whoever finds the most facts can choose whatever part of the play they want to be first. Junie B and Jose both tied and Jose chose the lead role of Christopher Columbus.

Pretty soon the class was working on the play but with alot of students getting sick, that was difficult.

Junie B was portraying the Pinta Ship, Sheldon was the Nina and Tattletale May was the Santa Maria. The ships kept racing, well Junie B was and she wasn't supposed to which that lead to them getting shipwrecked at the actual night.

Trivia[]

It is unknown what role Lennie or Shirley played in the play. Lennie was sick during role pickings and may not have been able to perform. May was last to choose her role of the students present but may have been able to choose ahead of absent students.
